This is one of the roads I was describing in my previous post… long, straight and when you’re driving along it seemingly never ending. I remember on this particular road heading towards lighting ridge, driving for around 3 hours straight (pun intended), the road was flat, the sun was shining, continuing to drive towards the vanishing point when all of a sudden the car went up a slight rise, I’d say it was something like a 2 inch rise in the road that dropped off to the previous level within within 20 feet… It was such a change from the past 3 hours of driving that I let out a “wooohooo”, completely involutary, just a natural reaction, that made me laugh for 5 minutes about how I’d reacted to pretty much nothing, then it was another 2 hours of the same… rock on!

One of the most fascinating things about being on these open flat roads, with such a flat terrain is that you can encounter situations where a weather front is coming in and you can see the weather front, middle and back all at the same time. 🙂

There are lots of great examples out there of supercel structures, I find those images absolutely awe inspiring and unfortunately very difficult to photograph outside of larger open landscapes like Australia or the US, some great examples can be found here in a Daily Mail Article
